As you enter the Great Smoky Mountain National Park from the Gatlinburg entrance, you’ll come across a quaint building, the Sugarlands Visitor Center, and it’s well worth a stop. Known as a jumping-off point to the Smokies, the Sugarlands Visitor Center hosts nature walks and guided hikes by park rangers. The 20-minute video about the natural wonders of the area is a must-see, and only a short distance away rests the Sugarlands Valley Nature Trail, a handicap-accessible trail for a relaxing walk. Within the visitor center are hiking maps, homemade jellies and jam, and a wealth of educational information on the Smoky Mountains.
