As the holidays approach, the excitement of winter and all the amazing outdoor activities the Smoky Mountains has to offer is upon us as well. Skiing, snowboarding, and tubing are all available in our fantastic community. Here are three of our favorite winter activities you should check out:
Experience fun in the snow with the thrill of snow tubing. Ober Gatlinburg has installed snow blowers and as a result, are opening right before Thanksgiving this year. There are great attractions in the snow park and kids 3 and under are free with a paid adult admission!
Even though much of the brilliant fall colors have faded from the trees by November, winter hiking in the national park has other perks.
With the shedding of the leaves, there are even more beautiful vistas to enjoy along hiking trails. Because there are fewer people in the park during the winter months, it’s also a great opportunity if you enjoy experiencing solitude in nature.
It will be cold and weather conditions can change, so you should always be sure to bring proper winter gear, plenty of food, and water for your winter hike.
Don’t want to head out to the slopes at Ober Gatlinburg? If you are in that category, you’re in luck! Pigeon Forge Snow is a fantastic indoor snow tubing facility in Downtown Pigeon Forge! This is a new attraction and it uses real snow, allowing you to enjoy the fun of snow play all year round.
