Fall seems to be a favorite time of year for lots of people--one that they look forward to. The heat of the summer is winding down, the kids are back in school, and routines return to normal. It’s also the time of year when people feel more like doing things outside. The fall foliage is on display, fall festivals are in full swing in most cities and towns across the country, and Gatlinburg, TN, is no exception.
Below are some of the fall festivals coming up in the Gatlinburg area in October. If you decide to bring the family, or just the two of you, to Gatlinburg this month, Diamond Mountain Rentals has lots of beautiful cabins in Gatlinburg that are perfect for your vacation, and conveniently located near all these festivals. We’d be happy to book something for you.
Smoky Mountain Harvest Festival: Gatlinburg kicks off the fall season with the Smoky Mountain Harvest Festival, which is a nearly month-long celebration of fall color, entertainment and exhibits. The festival runs throughout Sevier County, so you’ll find lots of fall-themed things to do not only in Gatlinburg, but also in Pigeon Forge and Sevierville during this time. The festival runs from approximately mid September - Oct. 31. During this time you’ll find fall colors throughout the county--and we’re not just talking about the trees!
Gatlinburg Craftsmen’s Fair: Appalachian history and culture is alive and well in Gatlinburg, and you’ll see that in full force at the Gatlinburg Craftsmen’s Fair this month. This unique festival displays the high-quality handmade work of artisans and craftsmen from all over the country. In its 42nd year, this festival is one of the most popular in the region and includes over 200 booths to explore. Also included in the price of admission are daily music shows that you won’t want to miss. This festival runs Oct. 5 - 22 at the Gatlinburg Convention Center.
Oktoberfest at Ober Gatlinburg: Ober Gatlinburg’s 8th Annual Oktoberfest is a celebration of fall in the spirit of the original Oktoberfest in Munich, Germany. Fall is the perfect time for this indoor/outdoor festival, and the location at Ober Gatlinburg is perfect for viewing fall scenery. Come celebrate all things German at this fun festival: food, beer, games, costumes...there’s even an oompah band! This festival is fun for the whole family so make sure you don’t miss it. Oktoberfest runs Sept. 22 - Oct. 29.
Dollywood Harvest Festival: Pigeon Forge is home to Dolly Parton’s Dollywood Amusement Park, and there’s no better place to celebrate fall than at the Dollywood Harvest Festival, which runs Sept. 28 - Oct. 28. New for this year is Great Pumpkin LumiNights, which brings the park to life (and to light!) with thousands of carved and illuminated jack-o-lanterns throughout the park. Pumpkin-themed food and activities will add to the fun, and kids will love the Glow Maze. Adults might want to check out the fabulous gospel sounds of The Isaacs and other performers in concert at the park throughout the month.
Wears Valley Fall Fest: Offering 3 full days of family fun, the Wears Valley Fall Fest has fun for everyone. It runs Oct. 20 - 22, and includes good southern food, entertainment, crafts and activities for the kids. Wears Valley is approximately half an hour from Gatlinburg, making this festival another one that’s easily accessible from Diamond Mountain Rentals’ Gatlinburg cabins.
