The Best Trails to Hike During the Fall Season

 

If you make it to the Smoky Mountains in the fall, consider yourself lucky. The painted autumn scenery that lives in the mountains during this season is unlike anything else. If you love fall colors and chilly weather as much as we do, it’s a good thing you’re staying in the mountains! Alum Cave (Gatlinburg Entrance)

Shorter in distance (4.4 miles roundtrip), this trail is perfect for a fall afternoon. Enjoy the view from Alum Cave as you experience fall foliage all around. This trail is rated moderate and suitable for the whole family! Pack some snacks and enjoy the view from the cave, you won’t regret it. 

 

Baskins Creek Falls

Waterfalls, fall foliage and a moderate hike, what more could you ask for? Baskins Creek Falls is a great hike for any time of year! At only 3 miles round trip, you are in for a treat! Admire the falls with colorful leaves all around and chilly mountain air. This is one of our all time favorite hikes and it doesn’t take the whole day to hike! Check it out! 

 

Mt. LeConte

Calling all of our experienced hikers! Mt. LeConte is calling your name and you must respond! The Great Smoky Mountains welcome thousands of hikers every year and this is one of the most popular hikes in the system. Hike the 13.8 miles roundtrip and experience one of the best views found in the National Park! Don’t forget to pack snacks and lots of water! This trail will take the nearly entire day to complete.
